Hydro Jetting (Sewer Lines) With Clear Answers Before Work Begins
A standard drain snake can punch through a clog — but it often leaves behind the grease, scale, and root intrusion that caused the problem in the first place. Hydro jetting goes further. Using highly pressurized water, it blasts through blockages and scours the interior pipe wall clean, removing buildup that snaking can't touch.
Lapin Services has provided sewer and drain solutions to Orlando and Central Florida homes and businesses since 1958. When a recurring backup or stubborn sewer line problem won't go away for good, hydro jetting is often the final answer — and we have the equipment and licensed technicians to do it right.
Problems We Solve
Common Hydro Jetting (Sewer Lines) Problems We Fix
You do not have to diagnose the problem yourself. These are common issues we help confirm, explain, and repair.
Grease and Fat Accumulation
Cooking grease, fats, and oils stick to the interior walls of sewer lines over time, narrowing the pipe and eventually causing slow drains or full blockages — a common problem in both residential kitchens and commercial food service lines.
Root Intrusion
Tree and shrub roots naturally seek moisture and can work their way into small pipe joints or cracks. Once inside, they grow rapidly and can create partial or complete blockages that standard snaking cannot fully clear.
Mineral Scale and Buildup
Hard water deposits and mineral scale accumulate on pipe walls over years of use, reducing flow capacity and creating rough surfaces that trap debris. Snaking can't remove this layer — hydro jetting can.
Hardened Debris and Sediment
Sand, silt, and compacted debris settle in low spots and bends in sewer lines, particularly after heavy rains or in aging pipe systems. These dense accumulations require high-pressure water to break up and flush out.
Recurring Clogs That Keep Coming Back
If the same drain or sewer line keeps backing up despite repeated snaking, buildup on the pipe walls is almost certainly the cause. Hydro jetting removes the source of the problem rather than just clearing a path through it.
When to Call
Signs Your Drain or Sewer Line Needs Professional Attention
If you notice any of these signs, call Lapin. We will find the cause and explain what needs to happen next.
Drains That Keep Backing Up
When the same drain clogs repeatedly after being cleared, it signals residual buildup is still coating the pipe walls — a pattern hydro jetting is specifically designed to resolve.
Multiple Slow Drains Throughout the Property
Slow drains at several fixtures simultaneously point to a problem deeper in the main sewer line rather than an isolated clog — and hydro jetting can reach and clean that main line.
Sewage Odors from Drains
A persistent foul smell from drains often means decaying organic buildup is coating the interior of the pipe. High-pressure cleaning removes that buildup along with the odor source.
Gurgling or Bubbling Sounds
Gurgling in toilets or drains after flushing or running water indicates air displacement caused by a partial blockage or restriction in the sewer line.
Snaking Doesn't Hold
If a technician has snaked the line and the problem returns within weeks or months, snaking is clearing a path but leaving the underlying buildup in place. Hydro jetting removes it entirely.

FAQs
Hydro Jetting (Sewer Lines) FAQs
What is hydro jetting and how does it work?
Hydro jetting uses a specialized hose and nozzle to deliver highly pressurized water into a sewer or drain line. The force breaks apart blockages and scours the interior pipe wall clean, removing grease, scale, root intrusion, and hardened debris that snaking leaves behind.
Is hydro jetting better than snaking?
For most stubborn or recurring blockages, yes. A drain snake punches through a clog but doesn’t clean the pipe walls. Hydro jetting removes the buildup that caused the problem and restores the line to near-original flow capacity — making it far more effective at preventing the clog from returning.
Will hydro jetting damage my pipes?
When performed by a licensed technician on lines that are structurally sound, hydro jetting is safe for most pipe materials. We perform a camera inspection first to assess pipe condition and confirm hydro jetting is appropriate before we begin.
Can hydro jetting remove tree roots from sewer lines?
Yes. Hydro jetting is highly effective at cutting through root intrusion and flushing the debris out of the line. For significant root problems, we may also recommend a camera follow-up to check for pipe damage that the roots may have caused.
How long does hydro jetting take?
Most residential hydro jetting jobs are completed in one to two hours. Commercial lines or more severe buildup may take longer. We’ll give you a time estimate before we start.
Do I need hydro jetting or just a regular drain cleaning?
If you have a straightforward, first-time clog, standard drain cleaning may be all that’s needed. If the clog keeps coming back, affects multiple drains, or is caused by grease, scale, or root intrusion, hydro jetting is the better solution. We’ll assess the line and recommend the right service.
Is hydro jetting available for commercial properties?
Yes. We serve restaurants, property managers, commercial facilities, and business owners throughout Central Florida. Commercial grease lines, floor drains, and main sewer lines are all within scope.
How often should sewer lines be hydro jetted?
For most residential properties, every 18–24 months is a reasonable maintenance interval if you have a history of buildup or slow drains. Commercial kitchens and high-use properties may need service more frequently. We can advise based on what we find during the initial inspection.
