Sink Installation With Clear Answers Before Work Begins

Installing a new sink sounds straightforward until you're dealing with supply line connections that don't match, a drain that's slightly off-center, or a countertop cutout that needs adjusting. Whether you're remodeling a bathroom, replacing a worn kitchen sink, or upgrading to an undermount basin, the plumbing behind a sink installation needs to be right — or you'll be dealing with leaks, slow drains, or water damage later.

Lapin Services handles sink installations of all types across Central Florida — kitchen, bathroom, laundry, utility, and commercial. Our licensed plumbers connect supply lines, set drain assemblies, install faucets, and make sure everything works perfectly before they leave your home. We've been doing this since 1958, and our 4.9-star rating reflects the care we bring to every job, big or small.

Problems We Solve

Common Sink Installation Problems We Fix

You do not have to diagnose the problem yourself. These are common issues we help confirm, explain, and repair.

Supply Lines Don't Fit Existing Shutoffs

New sinks often come with supply lines that don't match the angle-stop valves already in your wall. A plumber can adapt the connection correctly — without the thread-stripping or over-tightening that leads to slow leaks.

Drain Rough-In Is Slightly Off

If your existing drain stub-out isn't perfectly positioned for your new sink's drain basket, improvised fixes often lead to P-traps that hold water, slow drains, or sewer gas leaks. Getting it aligned properly from the start matters.

Old Shutoff Valves Are Corroded

In Central Florida's older homes, angle-stop valves under sinks are often original — and decades old. Trying to work with a corroded shutoff during a sink swap can result in a valve failure that turns a simple job into an emergency.

Undermount Sink Needs Proper Support

Undermount sinks that aren't secured correctly can separate from the countertop over time — leading to water infiltrating the cabinet below. Proper installation includes the right adhesive, clips, and silicone seal for long-term stability.

Garbage Disposal Hookup Complications

Kitchen sink replacements that involve an existing garbage disposal require care in removing and reattaching the disposal to the new drain basket. Improper reassembly is a common source of kitchen sink leaks after a DIY replacement.

When to Call

Signs Your Plumbing System Needs Professional Attention

If you notice any of these signs, call Lapin. We will find the cause and explain what needs to happen next.

Your Sink Is Cracked or Stained Beyond Repair

Surface cracks, deep stains, chips, or rust that cleaning can't fix are clear signs it's time to replace the sink rather than continue working around its condition.

You're Remodeling Your Kitchen or Bathroom

A remodel is the ideal time to replace your sink — especially if countertops are being replaced or reconfigured. Having a plumber handle the sink installation alongside the broader project saves time and avoids rework.

You Purchased a New Sink and Need It Installed

If your new sink is sitting in the box and you're not confident about the plumbing connections, a professional installation is fast, affordable, and eliminates the risk of a leak you won't notice until it's become damage.

Your Current Sink Leaks Persistently

A sink that's been repaired more than once and keeps draining slowly or leaking around the basin may simply be at the end of its useful life. Replacement is often more cost-effective than repeated repairs.

You're Upgrading to a Different Sink Style

Switching from a drop-in to an undermount sink, or going from a single bowl to a double bowl, involves more than swapping fixtures — it may require countertop modification and repositioning drain connections that a plumber handles cleanly.

FAQs

Sink Installation FAQs

Can you install a sink I already purchased?

Absolutely — we install customer-supplied sinks all the time. Just let us know the sink type and any included fixtures so we can bring the right tools and fittings.

Do you also install the faucet during a sink installation?

Yes — we can install the faucet, sprayer, soap dispenser, and garbage disposal as part of the same visit. Getting everything connected at once is more efficient and ensures all components are properly integrated.

How long does sink installation take?

A standard sink replacement typically takes two to three hours. Installations involving countertop modifications, new shutoff valves, or garbage disposal reconnections may take longer — we’ll give you a realistic estimate upfront.

Do I need to do anything to prepare before the plumber arrives?

Clear out the cabinet under the sink and make sure the new sink and faucet are accessible. Your technician will handle shutting off the water, removing the old sink, and all the plumbing connections.

Can you replace the shutoff valves under the sink at the same time?

Yes — and it’s often a good idea if your shutoff valves are old or haven’t been exercised in years. We can replace them during the same visit for a modest additional cost.

Will my countertop need modification for a new sink?

It depends on the sink style and size. Drop-in replacements of the same size usually fit the existing cutout. Undermount or oversized sinks may need countertop cutting — we’ll assess this during the appointment and let you know what’s needed.

Do you install utility and laundry sinks as well?

Yes — we install kitchen, bathroom, utility, laundry, and commercial sinks of all types. Whatever the application, our plumbers handle it.

What happens if a leak develops after installation?

Our work is backed by a satisfaction guarantee. If a leak develops as a result of our installation, call us and we’ll come back to fix it at no additional charge.
